Broken Sunshine

Standard

The sun may be shining,

But my mind is still dark.

It’s a beautiful day out,

But it’s still hard to start.

The grass, it is greening,

But my feelings are blue.

The flowers are blooming,

But I’m dead without you.

The people are gathering,

But I’m still all alone.

Our youngest may be smiling,

But it’s still a broken home.

Your bag packed on weekends

Puts those bright days to halt.

The clock becomes my enemy,

As I realize I’m at fault.

I never meant to have you gone

But it’s still my price to pay.

I cannot shake this hardship…

Each and every day.
